Day 1: Marrakech - Ouarzazate - Rose Valley
The 4-day tour from Marrakech to Fes Desert Tour commences with a pick up from your riad/hotel at 9 am and drive southwest toward Kelaat M’gouna. To begin, we will cross the the High Atlas Mountains through the Tizi N Tichka, contemplating the mountainous, green landscape, full of Berber villages.
Along the way, stops will be made to enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the High Atlas with an elevation of 2260m, a special place for photographers. In addition, visit the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a mud village declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987, what’s more, It is a fortified village where several movies like Quen of The Desert, the Mummy, and Lawrence of Arabia were filmed.
After free time for lunch, we continue the journey to Ouarzazate, a city known as the gateway to the desert or the Hollywood of Africa. Here, we will make a stop at the Taourirt Kasbah, the former residence of the Pasha of Marrakech.
Later, we will continue on the way until we reach Kelaat M’Gouna where the Valley of the Roses, famous for its annual Rose Festival, held in May usually on the 1st week, where locals celebrate the rose harvest with vibrant parades, music such as the Ahidous Dance. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel located in the Valley of Roses, (Distance 315km approx. 8h).
Day 2: Rose Valley - Todra Gorges - Merzouga
Following the breakfast at the hotel, we depart toward Merzouga. The first stop will be in the Dades Valley to see breathtaking landscapes, picturesque canyons, and dramatic rock formations.
The second stop will be in the Todra Gorges which are a popular destination for tourists and outdoor enthusiasts thanks to the stunning scenery and opportunities for hiking and rock climbing reaching heights of up to 300 meters (984 feet), you can stroll through the gorges, enjoying the beautiful views of the canyons, a spectacular landscape of this middle part of the Atlas that will seduce you.
After some free time for lunch in the village of Tinjdad, we will continue our route to reach the Merzouga desert to start the camel trekking to the middle of the dunes watching a colorful sunset.
Then continue to the desert camp where you will welcomes with a glass of mint tea as well as you private tent. After a traditional dinner, enjoy the campfire with the lively drums played by local nomads singing about life and nomadism, and enjoy the shooting stars in the dunes. (Distance 330km approx. 6h30m).
Day 3: The Desert - Nomad Families - Gnaoua Music
After breakfast, we commence the trip by driving off-road toward the village of Khamlia; a desert village 7 km from Merzouga where the black Gnawa descendants of slaves reside with live performances of traditional music with the exhibition of their instruments, mostly percussion with which they dance and accompany themselves in their songs.
Then, we will visit the mines of M’fis, nomadic families to discover the culture, habits, and customs of its inhabitants. After some free time for lunch, you will visit the Oasis of Hassilabied, full of palm trees. Later, we head to the hotel and free afternoon to climb the dunes to see the sunset or do some other desert activities such as Quad biking.
Day 4: Erg Chebbi Desert - Fez
Wake up again early morning is a great idea to enjoy the impressive, beautiful, African sunrise. After breakfast, we start the last day of the tour toward the cultural city of Fez.
Along the way, we will pass through the palm grove of Tafilalet. Furthermore, we will pass through the Ziz Valley which is a part of the Tafilalet region and has historical significance as a former caravan route and an important center for trade, a pause will be made to enjoy the panoramic view of the valley that is full of palm trees.
After free time for lunch, we will visit the Cedar Forest in Azrou which is home to wild monkeys known as the Barbary Apes, and visit Ifrane town known as the little Moroccan Switzerland.
Finally, we will arrive in the evening to Fez, and this marks the end of our service.
