Here is the itinerary details of the 5 days Desert Tour from Tangier to Marrakech:
Day 1: Tangier - Tetouan - Chefchaouen
Arrival in Tangier and pick up at the port, airport, or your riad/hotel. First, we departure toward Chefchaouen, stopping in Tetouan to see its breathtaking medina, Tetouan (Tittawin in Tamazight, the eyes in English), nicknamed the white dove, or the daughter of Granada and it is a city in northern Morocco a few kilometers from the Mediterranean Sea.
Moreover, we will continue the journey to Chefchauen, arriving in time to enjoy the sunset and visit the beautiful city, as well as stroll through its streets, among its old houses of blue and white. Accommodation and breakfast at the riad/hotel.
Day 2: Chefchauen - Volubilis - Fez
After breakfast, we will leave the blue pearl in the direction of Fez, crossing the Rif mountainous forest until we reach the ruins of the Amazigh-Roman city of Volubilis; an archeological site declared a world heritage by UNESCO.
After visiting the ruins, we continue to discover the oldest capital of Morocco, the one that treasures the greatest heritage, which develops the best craftsmanship of the kingdom, Fez. It is declared a cultural heritage of humanity by UNESCO.
There are numerous monuments that you can visit, palaces, the Jewish quarter, Madrasas (Koranic schools) such as Chahrij, Bouinania, and Attarin. In addition to Fes El-Jedid, the Karaouine Mosque (the first university in the world). Free afternoon in the medina. Accommodation in the riad/hotel.
Day 3: Fez - Ifrane - Cedar Forest - Desert
After breakfast, we head toward Merzouga Desert passing through the Middle Atlas Mountains to visit Ifran, a city known as the Switzerland of Morocco and one of the cleanest towns in the world.
Next, Azrou which is an Amazigh (Berber) village known for its crafts, carpets, and wood carvings. Here, a pause will be made in the cedar forest to see the wild monkeys. Later, continue the way through the Tizi Talghemt or Camel’s Neck at 1,907 meters of altitude.
In the afternoon, we reach one of the highlights of Morocco, the Merzouga dunes to start an extraordinary experience that everyone should do at least once in a lifetime, you will ride the Camels to the deep of the Erg Chebbi dunes, once you have arrived to the heart of the Desert, a pause will be made to feel the silence of nowhere as well as watching the sunset from one of the highest dunes.
After the sunset, you continue the camel ride toward the Desert camp located in the middle of the Desert, where you will have your private tent and enjoy a delicious dinner, later, enjoy the drums around the fire played by local Berber singing about life and nomadism under a starry, open sky creating memories that will stay in mind forever.
Day 4: Desert - Todra Gorges - Roses Valley - Ouarzazate
Waking up early in the morning is a must-do to contemplate the breathtaking sunrise in the desert. After breakfast, we head to Ouarzazate through the Tafilalt, Rissani, Jorf, Ksar Touroug, and Tinejdad until we reach Todra Gorges which are a series of limestone river canyons located in the eastern part of the High Atlas Mountains.
After strolling in the canyons, we continue to visit Kelaat M’Gouna known as the Valley of the Roses, in this wonderful place a festival takes place annually in May.
Finally, upon arrival in Ouarzazate, we will visit the Taourirt Kasbah and the Atlas Studios. Accommodation with dinner and breakfast at the riad/hotel.
Day 5: Ouarzazate - Ait Ben Haddou - Marrakech
On the last day of the journey, we will head to Marrakech via the Tiz-in-Tichka pass (2260m), passing through the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben-Haddou declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, in this fabulous mud village, several Hollywood movies were filmed such as Queen of The Desert, The Last Temptation of Christ, The Man Who Would Be King, and the British documentary film A Life On Our Planet.
Later, we continue the journey to the capital of the former Pasha of Marrakech, located in Talouet Kasbah. Later, take the road of the curves which offers spectacular panoramic views.
