Itinerary of 3 days Fes to Marrakech Desert Tour
Here is the itinerary program of the 3 days tour from Fes to Marrakech:
Day 1: Fez – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Merzouga Desert
The 3-day Desert Tour from Fez to Marrakech starts with a pick-up from your accommodation in Fez. Then we head toward the Middle Atlas Mountains to visit Ifran, a city known as the Switzerland of Africa and one of the cleanest towns in the world known for its alpine-style architecture.
The next village will be Azrou “the rock”, a Berber village known for its crafts, carpets, and wood carvings, we will have an interesting stop in the cedar forest with our “friends” the monkeys (the macaques of Gibraltar).
Later, continue the way through the Tizi Talghemt or Camel’s Neck at 1,907 meters of altitude. The relief is impressive, the mountains are completely bare, covered with a purple coat.
Arrival in Errachidia and through the Tafilalet we will reach the palm grove of Erfoud towards the Merzouga desert where you ride camels into the Sahara Desert, Enjoy a traditional dinner, and spend the night in a Berber camp under a starry, open sky.
Day 2: Merzouga Desert - Todra - Rose Valley - Ouarzazate
Waking up early in the morning is a must-do to contemplate the colorful sunrise in the desert. After breakfast, we will continue to the Tafilalt, Rissani, and Jorf located on the right side of the Oued Ziz, then pass through Ksar of Touroug, framed by spectacular scenery.
Then we will pass through Tinejdad before reaching Tinghir. After lunch, we head toward the Todra Gorges, the beautiful Boumalne Dades Valley, and visit Kelaat M’Gouna known as the Valley of the Roses, in this wonderful place a festival takes place annually in May.
Finally, upon arrival in Ouarzazate, we will visit the Taourirt Kasbah, which was the residence of the Pasha of Marrakech. Accommodation with dinner and breakfast at the riad/hotel.
Day 3: Ouarzazate - Ait Ben Haddou - Marrakech
On the third day of the 3 Days Desert Tour, we will head to Marrakech via the Tiz-in-Tichka pass (2260m), the “road of the pastures”. Passing through the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben-Haddou declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, in this amazing mud village several Hollywood movies such as Gladiator, the Mummy, The Last Temptation of Christ, and Quen of the Desert were filmed.
Then we continue the journey to the capital of the former Pasha of Marrakech, located in Talouet Kasbah. Later, take the road of the curves from the port of Tichka which offers spectacular panoramic views with a multitude of colors on the plain of Haouz.
Finally, arriving in Marrakech and dropping you off at your riad/hotel or airport, marks the end of the tour from Fes
