The 3-Day Desert Tour from Fez to Merzouga Desert starts with a pick-up from your hotel/riad in Fez. First, we drive through the Middle Atlas to visit Ifrane, a city known as the Switzerland of Africa and one of the cleanest in the world.

Second, the following village will be Azrou “the rock”, a Berber village known for its crafts, carpets, and wood carving, a stop in the cedar forest to see the wild Monkeys (the Macaques of Gibraltar).

Later, we continue the journey through the Tizi Talghemt pass (1907 meters altitude). The relief is impressive, the mountains are completely bare, covered with a purple coat. Then, continuing toward Merzouga passing by hundreds of palm trees.

Finally, we reach the Sahara Desert and spend an overnight stay in the Merzouga desert which is a unique and unforgettable camel trekking experience enjoying the beauty and tranquility of the Sahara.

Day 2: Desert - Nomads - Mifis Mines

Waking up early morning is a must-do to watch the beautiful sunrise in the heart of the Erg-Chebbi dunes. After breakfast, you return with camels to the starting point to start another adventure with a 4×4 and it will be a quiet day to get to know more about the Erg-Chebbi area.

The first stop of the off-road excursion will be in the Mifis Mines (Mrdani). The second stop will be in one of the nomadic families that are still living in a traditional woven tent in the middle of nowhere, discovering their simple lifestyle, as well as visiting the areas where Rally Dakar passed in its time in the southeast.

The third stop will be in Khamlia; a small village located at the edge of the dunes, most of their inhabitants are originally from Mali, Sudan, and Niger. After enjoying Gnaoua music in this small village, you can try Berber (Amazigh) pizza, which is a typical food typical of the tradition and gastronomy of the nomads and it is very rare to find it everywhere.

Then, in the afternoon, you will be free without any rush to enjoy the beautiful mud villages near the dunes, as well as the Hassilabied palm grove. Overnight stay in the Riad/Hotel.

Day 3: Merzouga - Rissani - Ziz Valley - Fez

After a yummy breakfast in the hotel, we commence the last of the tour leaving the desert and driving to visit Rissani which is the capital of the Tafilalt region, origin in the XVII century of the current dynasty, the Alaouite, and incredibly far from tourism which has facilitated that it has maintained all its ancient flavor. It is the heir of the ancient city of Sigilmassa, three times a week an extraordinary market takes place in the souk of the city that gathers a large population coming from the surrounding area.

Visiting the souk is highly recommended, not at all loaded with tourist stereotypes, everything in Rissani smells of authenticity! The great heritage of the Tafilalt, apart from the spectacular landscapes, possibly the most impressive of the Moroccan south, is that it preserves a very rich heritage of architecture on the ground that can be visited throughout the region but completely forgotten on trips to the region.

Also, pass through the palm grove of Tafilalt which is called the Moroccan Mesopotamia at the bottom of a canyon runs the Ziz River with the largest oasis in the country, 800,000 thousand palm trees.

After that, we continue to the Ziz Valley stopping in a panoramic view of the thousands of palm trees. Finally, we drop you off at your hotel/riad in Fes.
